AIM Basic

Aerodromes

(AIM-AER)

This course will enable the participant to define the basics of an aerodrome and recognize its main elements, differentiate the parts of an aerodrome and explain the characteristics of each part of an aerodrome. Teaching methods include Classroom training. This course is open to current and future AIS/AIM Officers. This course is administered with a minimum of 4 participants.

Course content

  • Aerodrome layout
  • Runway (elements, characteristics, lighting etc)
  • Taxiway (characteristics, markings, lighting etc)
  • Apron (elements, characteristics, guidance systems etc)
  • Landing aids (visual aids, approach lighting systems etc)
  • Services, facilities Obstacles
  • Aerodrome data (ARP, elevations, declared distances etc)
  • Heliports (characteristics, visual landing aids)
